- Detachable wooden stand
- 3 Cards - First one contains an explanation of the icon's symbolism. The second contains the traditional prayer for the icon and a child's morning offering prayer. Third, a place to list prayer intentions.
- Electric candle with battery
- Holy water bottle (holy water not included)
- 12"x12" lace-trimmed cotton cloth
Our icons are professionally printed and then pasted with non-toxic glue onto basswood by hand in our studio. They fit comfortably in the wooden stand provided. Unlike icons which are hand-painted, lithographed or pasted onto gold leaf, our icons are made to be durable so that your child can handle it independently and without fear of damage (within reason).
The icon of "Mother of God, Unfading Flower" was chosen because of its traditional use but also because of its physical appeal to children. The Madonna's large eyes are maternal and comforting. The realistic portrayal is relatable. The light colors are attractive. This version originates from Eastern Europe and the original Church Slavonic writing has been replaced with English.
